Fiona Hodgson works on international women’s issues especially in the context of developing and conflict countries and is Co-Chairman of the APPG on Women, Peace and Security. Women in Afghanistan have been a particular focus for the past few years and in 2010 she was co-editor of the publication ‘The Female Face of Afghanistan’, which included contributions from Afghan women, NGOs and others who work in Afghanistan to highlight their plight. Fiona set up AWSF (Afghan Women’s Support Forum) and is: Chair of the Advisory Board of GAPS (Gender Action in Peace and Security), a member of the Conservative Human Rights Commission, a Member of the Steering Board on the Preventing Sexual Violence in Conflict and a Trustee of the Chalker Foundation. She has also been a delegate at the Commission on the Status of Women meeting at the UN in New York for the past nine years. Fiona was made a CBE in the New Year’s Honours List 2012 for her work on gender equality.
