Max Carter joined Afghan Connection in 2008 and is responsible for fundraising. Her primary focus is on building relationships with suitable charitable trusts and foundations. After gaining a degree in History at Edinburgh University, she started her career in the City as a fund manager working for Mercury Asset Management. Max subsequently worked for the Whitney Group, an executive search firm where she specialised in senior appointments in the financial services sector. She has also worked as a researcher for an MP who sat on the Foreign Affairs select committee. Whilst working there, she undertook research on a number of defence and foreign Affairs projects. With the arrival of marriage and children, she returned to university to take a further degree in Middle Eastern and Asian History at SOAS, University of London and then went on to study Arabic.
